Rope Splice
A rope splice is a great way of fixing a loop eye into your rope, or joining two loose ends together.
Place the unlaid ends as shown (b) through (D) and (E), (F) through (a) and (c). Jam the two ends close together, and hold or bind (D, E and F) on to the rope. take strand (a) over the strand (F), under (D) and pull tight.
Do the same with (c and b) that is, over the strand nearest them and then under the nearest. care must be taken not to bring two strands through the same twist. Continue over one and under the other until ends are tucked away.
Should you wish to taper, splice gradually and cut away portion of strands as you tuck.

A ring splice is made by passing unlaid ends through the rope twists as they lie, and if put through as shown in Fig 2 they will, (a) and (c) on top of (d) on bottom, continue passing over and under in previous splice.
